Box Score ARLINGTON, Texas - McMurry University women's basketball found itself swamped at Arlington Baptist College, falling by a 109-75 score.
The loss dropped the War Hawks to 2-17 on the season. The Patriots – ranked No. 1 in the nation in the NCCAA Division II poll - improved to 10-4.
McMurry was down by a 17-3 margin by the first media break with just over five minutes elapsed. ABC didn't take its foot off the accelerator, leading by 32 points (47-15) with five minutes left to play in the first half. The Patriots held a 54-26 cushion at the break.
Taylor Russell and
Mishae Roper shared high point honors for the War Hawks with 15 apiece. Russell was 6-for-10 from the field, while Roper was 6-for-13 shooting.
Russell pulled down a team-leading nine rebounds and two steals.
Freshman
Arielle Bermudez tallied 10 points as McM's third player in double digits. Bermudez canned 5-of-9 field goal attempts and also snared seven caroms.
Senior
Adijatu Disu had a nice, balanced effort of nine points, six boards, 2 steals and a block. Sophomore
Haley Welch added eight points, hitting 4-of-4 free throws, and
Keesha Bracy chipped in seven points.
Tayler Boroson had five points, Ashley Hesselltine four points and
Katlyn Tarbet two points to round out McMurry's scoring.
The War Hawks will next travel to Tarleton State University on Wednesday (Jan. 28) for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
