Men's Soccer Falls at DBU, 2-1, in Overtime

Box Score ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University men's soccer stretched former Heartland Conference mate Dallas Baptist University to the limits, before dropping a 2-1 decision in overtime. The War Hawks fell to 2-5 on the year, while the Patriots improved to 3-5.

The two teams played a scoreless first half, with DBU putting six shots on goal that were turned away by McM goalkeeper Ian McCarthy. McCarthy had a total of eight saves on the night.

Less than two minutes into the second half of play, Kyle Riese broke the scoring drought with an unassisted goal in at the 46:17 mark. Riese blasted a mid-range free kick that careened off the DBU goalie and into the net to but McM on top, 1-0.

The Patriots tied up maters in the 53rd minute and, with no more scoring in regulation, the clubs went into the overtime segment. DBU tallied four minutes into the extra period to take the win, despite McMurry's best efforts.

McMurry was out-shot by DBU by a margin of 25-13 overall
