Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – McMurry University found the going tough on the road, falling to Ouachita Baptist University, 3-0. The loss dropped the War Hawks to 2-4 on the year, while the NCAA II Tigers improved to 3-5.
The match was McM's fifth on the road of its six matches this season and second in a row.
The Tigers put McM in the vice grips early on, scoring a pair of goals less than two minutes apart at 8:18 and 10:01 minutes of the match. Both were netted by OBU's Blake Beshirs.
Ouachita Baptist added another goal in the 37th minute, as the Tigers carried a 3-0 advantage into the halftime locker room.
The OBU did a good job, defensively, making the War Hawks work hard for any offensive opportunity. As a matter-of-fact, McM did not even register a shot attempt until the 47th minute of play when
Julio Alfaro blasted an attempt that was saved by the Tigers' Jarrod Collins.
In all, McMurry finished the afternoon with six shot attempts. Conversely, the Tigers took 25 shot attempts.
McMurry's defense was equally stout in the second stanza, holding OBU scoreless in the period. McM goalkeeper
Ian McCarthy had seven total saves in the match.
McMurry will have a week off before resuming action with their fourth-consecutive road game, traveling to Dallas Baptist University next Saturday (Sept. 27) at 7 p.m.
