Men's Soccer Upended at Wayland Baptist

Box Score PLAINVIEW, Texas – McMurry men's soccer dropped its second-consecutive match, falling on the road to Wayland Baptist University, 5-0. The loss left the War Hawks with a 1-3 record overall, while the Pioneers improved to 5-2.
 
WBU tallied its first goal in the 9th minute of play. McMurry kept the Pioneers – who received votes in the NAIA pre-season top-25 coaches poll – at bay the balance of the half, trailing at the intermission, 1-0.
 
Despite McM's best efforts, Wayland Baptist turned up the heat in the second stanza, netting four goals in the period. WBU scored a goal in the 62nd minute of action and again in the 67th minute, by heading in a free kick, to make it 3-0.
 
In the 78th and 80th minutes, the Pioneers managed another pair of scores for the 5-0 final.
 
McMurry was out-shot by Wayland, 22-8 overall, 12-2 for shots on goal.
 
McM goal keeper Ian McCarthy had seven saves on the night.
 
Everton Pinnock came off the War Hawks' bench and accounted for four of his team's shots. Jacob Howdeschell had three attempts.
