PINEVILLE, La. – Senior
Cody Gentry's goal with less than four minutes left in the match gave McMurry University men's soccer a 2-1 victory at Louisiana College on Monday evening. The win improved the War Hawks to 5-8 on the year, while the Wildcats fell below .500 at 6-7-4.
McM found itself trailing 1-0 after LC tallied a goal in the 17th minute of play.
But seven minutes later, McMurry's "other Cody" –
Cody Baker (playing his first season of collegiate soccer in 2014) – netted his third goal of the season to tie up the contest at 1-1 with 23:42 elapsed.
Jordan Miller and
Matt Hernandez both assisted on the score off of a corner kick.
That 1-1- score would stand until halftime and through the bulk of the second half, as well.
At the 86:46 juncture of the match,
Kyle Riese fed the ball to Gentry, who drove it past Travis Alexander for the winner. It was Gentry's eighth goal of 2014 and second match-winner of 2014.

Mitchell Crittenden received his first victory in goal for McMurry. Crittenden had six saves.
