Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Dave Beyer, McM Sports Information Director

Men's Soccer Closes Season in a Big Way, 8-2

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's men's soccer team sent its senior class out in style, scoring an 8-2 shellacking of Southwestern Adventist University at Wilford Moore Stadium. The War Hawks closed out 2014 with a 6-8 mark, overall.

For McM's seven – Dani Perez, Cody Baker, Mitchell Crittenden, Ian McCarthy, Jordan Miller, Jacob Howdeshell and Cody Gentry – their final game became an offensive clinic, quickly.

The Knights scored first – at the 7:07 minute mark – but the War Hawks would score most often, tallying four goals in each half. After SWAU's opening salvo, McMurry would reel off six unanswered goals.

And some of the seniors had no problem getting into the act, either. Gentry had two goals and two assists to lead the team.  Howdeshell also netted a pair of goals.

Miller had a goal and two assists, while Baker – a first-year collegiate player for McM head coach Paul Tate – tallied his fourth goal of the season in the match. McCarthy, who had played most of the year in goal, put in his third career goal, as well.

Kyle Riese had McM's other goal of the day, tying the match in the 14th minute.

Crittenden had two saves in his career finale.

Overall, the War Hawks out-shot the Knights, 44-7.
