War Hawks Raise Volleyball Streak to 9

ABILENE, Texas – Playing a third match in four days had no ill effects on the McMurry University volleyball team as it continued its winning ways with a three-set win – 25-17, 25-23, 25-23 – over the University of the Southwest at Kimbrell Arena. The win was The War Hawks' (15-5) ninth in a row, with a perfect 27-0 record in sets during those matches.

The tandem of Catherine Heath and Kelsey Harkins paced McMurry's attack, which hit at a .213 clip for the match (and holding USW to a .125 attack percentage). Heath (13 kills) and Harkins (11 kills) accounted for 24 of their teams 43 kills as a unit. Harkins and Jessica Cory each managed 17 digs, as well.

Morgan Thomas had a game leading 21 assists. Fellow setter Jessica Tennis had 16 assists.

Katy Headrick added six kills, four digs and two blocks. Lauren Heathcote also had six kills.

McMurry will try to extend its winning streak to 10 on Tuesday (Oct. 14) when it travels to the University of Dallas. UD was the last team to defeat McMurry, toppling the War Hawks in four sets back on September 16 in Abilene.
