Box Score SAN ANGELO, Texas - The McMurry baseball program dropped a 10-3 decision to the Rams of Angelo State University on Tuesday evening.
The Rams jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning on just one hit, and two runs in the bottom of the second.
In the top of the third inning, the War Hawks responded, notching three runs in the frame, on four doubles.
Ruben Zendejas notched the first double to left field with one out and was immediately brought in on a double by
Ricky Garcia to cut the lead to 5-1. Two batters later,
Cody Howard replaced Garcia on second base with a double of his own to cut the lead again, 5-2.
Jordan Kennedy then brought in Howard to get McMurry within striking distance, 5-3.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Rams expanded the lead, scoring two-more runs without collecting a hit. They then added three more runs over the next five innings to balloon the score to 10-3.
Over the course of the game, the Rams took advantage of four McMurry errors which led to five unearned runs in the contest.
Offensively, McMurry totaled six hits, four of which were for extra bases, from six different players. Garcia, Howard and Kennedy all drove in a RBI on the night as well.
The War Hawks will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13, when they play host to the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith. Double header action on Friday is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
