ABILENE, Texas – Construction of the 2012 McMurry football squad – as well as the $2.2 million renovation to Wilford Moore Stadium – continued on Wednesday. One of the latest additions to War Hawks' head coach Hal Mumme's staff is wide receivers/tight ends coach Bobby Blizzard.
Blizzard played for Mumme at the University of Kentucky his first couple years in college. After Mumme left the Wildcats, Blizzard transferred to the University of North Carolina to finish his college career.
Blizzard played professional football from mid-2004 through 2007. He spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and in NFL Europe before hanging up the cleats.
Blizzard spent the past four years utilizing his B.A. degree in sociology by working at various counseling positions in Hampton, Virginia.
But his heart never strayed far from the game he loved.
So, when Mumme called him earlier this year and invited him to fill a vacancy on the War Hawks' staff, Blizzard leapt at the opportunity to rejoin his former mentor.
As Blizzard blew into Abilene, his wealth of knowledge at positions vital to the “Air Raid Offense” came with him. With an already-talented receiving corps, Blizzard has added another resource upon which the War Hawks can draw in preparing for the 2012 season.
