Swimmers Narrowly Defeated at Oklahoma Baptist

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – McMurry's swimming teams both lost close meets at Oklahoma Baptist University on Saturday. The men fell by a 50-42 score, while the women's team was defeated 53-40.

For the War Hawk women, Alexandra Alstaetter won the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:10.84 and grabbed a second place in the 200 individual medley (2:42.27).  She also swam the lead leg of McM's winning 200 freestyle relay.

In the 100 backstroke, teammate Jocelyn Stanley finished second (1:16.69).

Erin Johnson grabbed the War Hawks' other winning effort in the 100 butterfly, finishing in a time of 58.92 seconds. Johnson swan anchor on the 200 freestyle relay quartet, preceded by Alstaetter, Shannon Samples and Taylor Thomas.

On the men's side, Robert Sussmeier won the 100 backstroke (1:03.17) and anchored the War Hawks' winning 200 freestyle relay team.

Matt Perez took home top honors in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.97). Travis Allen was victorious in the one-meter diving with 163.60 points.

Runner-up finishes came from Nathan Worley in the 100 freestyle (56.98 seconds), Ben Sherwood in the 100 backstroke (1:05.79) and Dalton Walker in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.42).

Members of the 200 freestyle relay quartet included Worley, Sherwood, Sean White, as well as Sussmeier.
