Swimmers Topped at Colorado College for Second Straight Day


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the second time in as many days, McMurry's swim teams both lost at Colorado College. The women suffered a 153-53 setback, while the men's team was defeated 172-56.

For the War Hawk women, Shannon Samples had a pair of second place finishes in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events. Samples was clocked at 26.79 seconds in the 50 and 59.56 in the 100.

Sara Ploetz was second in the 50 backstroke (32.12) and third in the 200 backstroke (2:36.23). Teammate Jocelyn Stanley was second in the 200 back in a time of 2:32.18.

Amanda Genzling had a pair of second place finishes in both the 50 breaststroke (36.87) and 200 breaststroke (3:05.73). Amber Perkins was third behind Genzling in the 50 breaststroke (37.38).

In the 50 yard butterfly, Taylor Thomas brought home a runner-up finish in a time of 30.43 seconds.

In the men's division, Robert Sussmeier was the only race winner of the day for either team when he claimed first in the 200 breaststroke. Sussmeier finished the race in a time of 2:03.17. He was also second in the 50 backstroke (27.29).

Nathan Worley finished third behind Sussmeier in the 50 backstroke at 28.31 seconds.

Matthew Perez pulled in a second place in the 50 breaststroke (32.11), while Dalton Walker was second in the 200 freestyle (1:56.62).
