ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's volleyball team will put its 11-0 start to the test Friday and Saturday at Kimbrell Arena when the War Hawks play host to American Southwest Conference West Division foes Texas Lutheran and Schreiner. McMurry and TLU play Friday at 6 p.m. while Saturday's match with Schreiner begins at Noon.

The Bulldogs have claimed at least a share of eight west division titles and two conference championships since 2000. Schreiner on the other hand, has made four-straight fourth-place finishes since 2008 in the west division missing the playoffs behind McMurry each time.

The War Hawks' 11-0 start includes a 2-0 league record after McMurry took down Howard Payne and Sul Ross State on the road last week. The Bulldogs enter the contest with a record of 6-6, however, five of their six losses have come to nationally-ranked teams in the AVCA Top 25.

TLU is 2-0 in ASC play as well with victories over Concordia-Texas and Schreiner. The Bulldogs are hitting .153 as a team with Vanecia Spencer leading the charge with 119 kills in 12 matches; her teammate Marcia Sagebiel is not far behind with 110.

Schreiner is hitting .114 as a team with conference wins over Howard Payne and Concordia-Texas and just one league blemish when the Mountaineers lost to TLU. Ashley Lyles leads a balanced attack with 41 kills over 11 matches for Schreiner.

McMurry's 11-match win streak most recently included a win over an NCAA Division II team, the second of the season for the War Hawks. Wednesday night, McMurry needed just 61 minutes to sweep future Heartland Conference opponent Oklahoma Panhandle State, 3-0. The War Hawks are joining the Heartland and Division II beginning in the fall of 2012.

The War Hawks are hitting .260 as a team, which leads the ASC, and the McMurry defense has held opponents to a league-low .105. M.J. Vickers has 132 kils to lead the War Hawks while Bailey Marcum has 104.
