War Hawk Volleyball Looks to Extend Nine-Game Win Streak Against Sul Ross

ABIELNE, Texas – McMurry University volleyball team looks to add to its current nine game winning streak taking on American Southwest Opponent Sul Ross State Saturday at 12 p.m. in Alpine. The War Hawks are off to their best start in school history starting the season 9-0.

Sul Ross will come into the match with a 1-5 record. The Lobos only win was their first game of the season against NCCAA Arlington Baptist University. Sul Ross was picked to finish last in the ASC West Division Preseason Poll.

The Lobos are led by Brook Bankston who has recorded 31 kills. Kathy Peralez for Sul Ross State is the leading the team in digs with 63. The Lobos have hit .092 as a team.

Over the nine-game winning streak for McMurry junior M.J. Vickers has recorded 116 kills and 118 digs. Vickers has recorded more kills than the entire Sul Ross team who has recorded 112 as a team. Senior Bailey Marcum is second on the team in kills with 90 and first on the team in digs with 168. The War Hawks have hit .246 over the nine game span.

McMurry is 1-0 in ASC play beating Howard Payne on Tuesday in five games. McMurry has won the last eight meetings against the Lobos.
