War Hawks Complete the Sweep Over UMHB With a 6-4 Victory

Michael Dibiasi threw 2.1 innings of hitless relief in the 6-4 win over UMHB
ABILENE, Texas – Michael Dibiasi and Deen Coleman's four scoreless
innings out of the bullpen keyed the McMurry War Hawks to a 6-4 win
and a series sweep over Mary Hardin-Baylor Sunday afternoon at Walt
Driggers Field.

The War Hawks dug a quick hole as the Crusaders scored three runs over
the first two innings of play. McMurry would strike in the bottom of
the third when Austin Brooks hit a double in the left centerfield gap.
Later, Brian Durst hit a doubled to left field driving home Brooks
and Greg Guse to record two of his game high three RBI's.

In the top of the fifth inning the Crusaders scored their last run of
the day on a throwing error during a rundown between first and
second base that allowed Josh Fredrick to score from third to take a
4-2 lead. The War Hawks answered with two runs in the bottom of the
fifth as Guse singled home Moench after he reached on a leadoff double
to cut the UMHB lead to one. Durst would pick up his
third RBI of the afternoon with a single through the left side as Guse
scored from second to knot the score at four. Andrw Bell singled up
the middle in the seventh after a scoreless sixth to score both Brooks
and Guse giving the War Hawks the lead for good.

McMurry Starter Spencer Smith went 4.2 innings allowing only two
earned runs, and he scattered eight hits. Dibiasi earned the victory
for the War Hawks pitching 2.1 innings of hitless, scoreless relief.
Coleman picked up his first save of his McMurry career in two innings
of scoreless work on the mound. The loss went to Mary Hardin-Baylor's
Kel Shannon who recorded just 0.1 innings of work in relief.

The win moves McMurry to 6-14 on the season and 3-3 in American
Southwest Conference West Division play. UMHB fell to 9-12
overall with a 1-5 conference record. McMurry is back in action Friday
at Schreiner University in Kerrville at 2 p.m.
