McMurry set to face D-I Texas-Arlington in first road contest Wednesday night

ABILENE, Texas –The War Hawks hit the road for the first official road game Wednesday night against the University of Texas at Arlington at 6:30 p.m. McMurry University will face its second game against a NCAA Division I institution, squaring off against Texas-San Antonio earlier this year in an exhibition game.

McMurry goes into the contest carrying 1-0 record with a blowout, 110-30 win over Southwestern Adventist University Saturday. Reigning American Southwest Conference Freshman of the Year Keshia Collins recorded a career high 25 points, grabbed six boards and five steals in the contest.

Sophomore Rikeita Thomas recorded 17 points in the game Saturday going along with four assists. In her freshman debut point guard Katlyn Tarbet recorded six assists, six points, and five steals.

As a team McMurry shot 53 percent from the floor in the game against SWAU and was 6-18 from beyond the arch. The War Hawks forced 41 turnovers, recorded 30 steals and had more offensive boards (32) than defensive (20).

UTA has played three games to McMurry's one, and have lost all three. The losses have all been to Division I schools losing two at home and one on the road. The Mavericks have averaged just over 40 points per game. The game against McMurry will be played at Texas Hall on the campus of UTA.
