War Hawks dominate season opener in 110-30 win over SW Adventist

Collins recorded a career high 25 points against Southwestern Adventist University Saturday night
Box Score ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University won its season opener 110-30 over Southwestern Adventist University Saturday night at Kimbrell Arena. Sophomore Keshia Collins recorded a career best 25 points in 26 minutes of play.
 
McMurry took a 44-point lead into the locker room at the half shooting 53.3 percent from the floor. The team shot 53.8 percent for the whole game going 49-91 from the floor just eight made baskets away from tying the McMurry school record.
 
In her War Hawk debut Freshman Katlyn Tarbet recorded a game high six assists and five steals. Collins aided the defense tying Tarbet for a game high five steals. Rikeita Thomas recorded 17 points and added four assists for the offense. Newcomers Jamie Wilson and Emily Price each added 10 points in the McMurry victory. Celeste Belizario led the team with eight rebounds including three on the offensive side.
 
The Knights leading scorer Vasthi Rosa-Paez recorded eight points on the night going 3-6 from the floor. McMurry held SWA to only 12 buckets on the night, with the Knights shooting 34.3 percent from the floor.
 
McMurry moves to 1-0 on the season, with the Knights falling to 0-3 on the year. McMurry will face LeTourneau University Saturday at 1 p.m. in Kimbrell Arena.
