War Hawks lose overtime contest 1-0 to ASC opponent Schreiner

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University drops an overtime match 1-0 Friday afternoon at Edwards Field against Schreiner University in American Southwest Conference action. The War Hawks were unable to record their first conference victory and fall to 0-10 in ASC play and 1-13 overall.
 
The War Hawks took nine total shots landing three on goal compared to 15 total shots for Schreiner who landed four on goal. McMurry Goalie Rey Arriaga saved three shots allowing the one Mountaineer goal. Schreiner's goalie Matt Johnson saved three shots in 97 minutes of play.
 
The score was 0-0 going in to golden goal overtime. McMurry's Miguel Rodriguez took the first shot in overtime but the shot flew above the crossbar. Schreiner took the ball from McMurry in Mountaineer territory and sent a clearing pass over the midline. The ball was flicked off the head of Schreiner's Tanner Overstake past the War Hawks last line of defense to teammate Justin Edwards. Edwards dribbled into the box and put a shot past a diving Arriaga into the lower right corner of the goal for the game winner in the 98th minute of the match.
 
The win move Schreiner to 3-11 overall and 3-7 in ASC play. McMurry will play its final home game Saturday afternoon, 3 p.m. at Edwards Field.
