BELTON, Texas – McMurry University lost in American Southwest Conference play to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Friday afternoon 5-0 in Belton. The Cru scored their game winner goal in the fifth minute of the match off a header by Kyle Dickey.
McMurry took a total of eight shots landing two on goal both coming off the foot of
Cody Gentry who took three total shots.
Mario Varela took two of the War Hawks eight shots.
Zack Brewer and
Rey Arriaga split time in goal recording two and three save respectively.
UMHB scored its second goal in the 19
th minute of the match off the head of Trevor Shoppach. Taylor Bates added a goal in the 46
th minute of the match putting a two-touch pass into the lower right corner. John Williams and Kevin Johnson added goals in the 54
th and 84 minute of the match.
The loss takes McMurry to 1-12 on the season and 1-8 in ASC play. The win moves UMHB to 7-3-1 on the season and 6-3-0 in ASC matches. McMurry continues its road trip Saturday at 3 p.m. against Howard Payne University in Brownwood.
