War Hawks begin three game homestand with Howard Payne

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University begins a three game homestand and looks to tie their win total from the 2004 season, 21, Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Howard Payne in Kimbrell Arena. The War Hawks highest win total in history is 23, accomplished in 2002 and 1997 seasons.

Howard Payne comes into the contest carrying an 8-13 record and a 4-7-conference record. In the contest earlier this season McMurry beat HPU in five sets. In that match M.J. Vickers recorded 17 kills and nine digs.The War Hawks are 19-8 since 1997 against the ASC opponent in the Yellow Jackets.
 
For the Yellow Jackets Tamika Heline leads the team on offense recording 274 kills averaging 3.47 kills per set. Defensively Hannah Hicks and has recorded 58 total blocks, and Kristin Hammond has recorded 350 digs.  As a team HPU is carrying a .164 hitting percentage while holding opponents to a .159 hitting percentage.
 
McMurry comes into the contest with a 20-2 overall record. As a team the War Hawks carry a hitting percentage of .245 while holding opponents to a .125 hitting percentage.
 
Offensively the War Hawks have four players with at least 140 kills led by Vickers who has recorded 265 kills on the season. Bailey Marcum helps charge the team defensively recording 289 digs and aiding Vickers recording 214 kills. Kasi Conners has totaled 115 blocks that ranks as the 7th best blocking season in McMurry history, Conners needs two blocks to move into the 6th slot.  Jasmine Qualls and Demi Holladay have continued to split time as the setter and recorded 382 and 366 assists respectively.
