ABILENE, Texas – Both McMurry soccer teams were shutout by the University of Texas at Dallas Saturday afternoon in two muddy contests at Edwards field. The girls coming off of their first victory in more than three and a half years lost 11-0 while the men fell to Comets 4-0.
Four different players for UTD found the back of the net with the first came when Billie Dixon settled a cross from Brian Bienhoff and beat McMurry goalie
Matt Mouer to the lower left corner in the eighth minute of the match.
McMurry was able to hold off the Comets for the next 59 minutes until Bienhoff took a pass from Jorge Morales and found the net. UTD went on to add two more goals the first coming in the 74th minute by Ryan Courson and the second in the 82nd minute by Anthony Stryk.
McMurry was more than doubled in shots by the comets by a count of 19-8, and of the eight shots by McMurry three were on goal.
McMurry was able to hold the score to 3-0 when going into the half, but the wheels feel off for McMurry and the second and allowed eight goals with three coming in the final 10 minutes.
UTD was lead by Eboni Udenze who recorded a total of four goals with two coming in the first half and two in the second. Brittany Ansel found the back of the net once, but had the hat trick in the assist category. Leah Bowyer and Jean Francis also scored to goals for the comets.
Both McMurry teams will travel this week to take on Louisiana College on Thursday in Pineville, La. The women will play at 2:00 p.m. with the men starting at 4:00 p.m.
