UT-Tyler soccer teams shutout both McMurry squads, 6-0

TYLER, Texas – Both McMurry soccer teams dropped their American Southwest Conference openers in Tyler Thursday afternoon to UT-Tyler. The Patriots defeated McMurry's men 6-0 while the Lady Patriots also took a 6-0 victory over McMurry.

On the women's side, McMurry was only able to manage two shots on the game, both by Rachel Moore. Moore landed one shot on goal for McMurry. With the score 2-0 at halftime, the Patriots scored four goals in the second half.

Five different players scored goals for the UT-Tyler women with Lindsey Edwards scoring two goals. Edwards scored in the 52nd and 88th minutes; Kasey Kemp, Hannah Parcel, Tristan Arrington and Julie Williams also scored goals for the Lady Patriots.

In the men's match, the Patriots scored five first-half goals before adding its final score in the 66th minute. Six different Patriots scored in the match and UT-Tyler sunk McMurry by scoring three goals in a 4:24 span midway through the first half.

UT-Tyler's Jared Taylor, Troy Coffee, Elijah Shipman, Brandon Warren, Chris Powell, and Jeremias Benitez all scored goals for the Patriots.

McMurry's men fell to 0-6 overall and began conference play with a 0-1 start; the Patriots improved to 2-1. UT-Tyler's women improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in league play while McMurry dropped to 0-5 and 0-1 respectively.
