ABILENE, Texas - Both McMurry soccer programs get the privilege of kicking of the 2010-2011 athletics season Wednesday with a women's and men's doubleheader against Lubbock Christian at McMurry's Edwards Field. Both Lubbock Christian squads are in their first seasons as collegiate programs in the NAIA.

The women's program, under the direction of first-year head coach Alan Riches, will be looking for its victory since the season finale in the 2006 season. The Lady Chaps from Lubbock enter with a 1-0 record taking a victory in their program's debut with a dominating 9-0 victory over University of the Southwest Saturday.

McMurry's women and the Lady Chaps will kickoff at 1 p.m.

On the men's side, McMurry will be under the direction of former McMurry goal keeper Paul Tate who enters his first season as head coach. McMurry finished 2-12-3 in 2009 and will be looking for its first win since Sept. 11, 2009 when the team defeated the University of Dallas.

The Chaps also played host to the University of the Southwest and started its college program off well with a 3-1 victory. The men's game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. kickoff.

Both games will be broadcast with live video on mcmurrysports.com.
