It's McMurry's turn to head to California for the annual three-game set with Chapman University and the two teams will square off on the baseball diamond in Orange, Calif. Friday and Saturday. Initially, a single-game was scheduled for Friday and two games were scheduled for Saturday. However, to avoid weather, Chapman moved the doubleheader to Friday beginning at 1 p.m. CST and the single game will take place Saturday at 1 p.m. CST.
Chapman, ranked No 7 in the nation by the NCBWA / D3baseball.com in the 2010 preseason poll, holds a 10-5 all-time record against McMurry. 2010 marks the fifth consecutive year that the two teams have played each other near the beginning of the season. McMurry enters the series with a 1-2 record while the Panthers enter with a 4-1 record.
Last season, the Panthers were ranked No. 2 in the nation when the two teams faced each other and took all three games. That marked the first time that either team has swept the annual three-game series. The only time McMurry ever took the series from the Panthers came the first season in 2006 when it took two of the three games.
