McMurry blows 20-point lead in overtime loss to Patriots, 74-56

TYLER, Texas – After leading by 20 points in the second half the McMurry men were outscored 53-15 in the final 14:48 of regulation and overtime by UT-Tyler and the Patriots took a 74-56 win over McMurry in overtime.

Cameron Quinton hit a layup to give McMurry a 41-21 lead in the second half before the Patriots held McMurry to a 4 of 24 effort from the field in the final 20:12 of regulation and overtime combined.

The Patriots' Brandon Levine had 19 points and hit a 3-pointer and two free throws in the final 1:16 to cap an 8-0 Patriot run that forced overtime. From there, UTT outscored McMurry 23-5 in overtime.

Michael Johnson and Jacob McDonald had 13 and 11 points respectively and the Patriots hit 29 of 37 free-throw attempts. McMurry's Teddy Chambers had 14 points and 11 rebounds in the losing effort while Steven Jones and Cameron Quinton each had nine points.

Neither team shot well with McMurry shooting 31 percent from the floor and the Patriots shot 35 percent.

The Patriots improved to 2-4 on the season and 1-1 in league play while McMurry fell to 3-2 and 1-1 respectively.
