ABILENE, Texas - McMurry University will look to stay in solid position in the American Southwest Conference West Division Thursday night when the team plays host to Howard Payne at Kimbrell Arena at 7 p.m. Fans can watch live video on

Howard Payne is coming off a 3-game losing skid, and the Yellow Jackets enter the match with a 9-10 overall record and a 3-6 record against ASC competition. After a 2-1 week at the ASC crossover tournament in Richardson , McMurry enters with a 9-7 overall record, but more importantly, McMurry is in a tie for second place with Texas Lutheran at 6-3.
TLU defeated McMurry Sept. 17 at home and if the ASC Postseason Tournament field were determined Thursday, McMurry would enter as the No. 3 seed losing the tiebreaker to TLU. However, including Thursday night's game with HPU, McMurry has six remaining ASC West contests and trails Hardin-Simmons in the standings by one game.
Howard Payne's Tamika Heline is third in the ASC in kills with 238 and averages 3.72 per set. The Yellow Jackets' setter, Amber Cantu, also ranks third in the ASC with 619 assists at 8.25 per set.
McMurry uses a balanced offensive attack with three players averaging more than two kills per set.
Bailey Marcum and
M.J. Vickers each have 167 kills apiece while
Bennie Smith has 138.
Terah Brown leads the ASC in blocks with 63 total and
Sarah Anding's 255 digs leads the team defensively.
