McMurry is currently in 13th place in the American Southwest Conference, but looks to improve both its record and standing this weekend as it plays host to LeTourneau and East Texas Baptist University Friday and Saturday respectively.
A win over ETBU could leapfrog McMurry past the Tigers, who are immediately ahead in the standings with a 1-9 record. McMurry enters the final weekend of the season with a 1-15 overall mark and a 1-10 record in league play.
One win this weekend would match last season's win total and a weekend sweep would give McMurry its best record since 2007.
This past Friday in Kerrville, McMurry lost to Schreiner University by a score of 3-0. Schreiner's first goal came in the 44th minute of the contest when Rudy Moreno took a pass from Sam Grant and put it past McMurry goalie
Matt Mouer. Schreiner's Kelan Robinson and David Machado would add goals in the 59th and 84th minutes respectively.
Saturday, Texas Lutheran shutout McMurry and limited the team to just two shots on goal compared to the Bulldogs' 15. Steven Duever took a pass from Walter Pinion in the 43rd minute and beat McMurry goalie
Collin Bowersock for the first goal of the match. TLU would score five more goals in a 15-minute span from the 59th minute to the 74th minute of the contest.
McMurry will take on LeTourneau University this Friday at Edwards Field at 3 p.m. and then East Texas Baptist University Saturday at 3 p.m.
