ABILENE, Texas – Howard Payne's soccer teams swept McMurry Saturday afternoon at Edwards Field with the women's team taking a 5-1 win over McMurry and the Yellow Jackets defeated McMurry's men 3-0 in American Southwest Conference play.
The McMurry women dropped to 2-11-0 overall and 2-7-0 in league play while Howard Payne improved to 6-4-3 overall and 5-3-2 in conference action. McMurry's
Amber Torres scored the home team's only goal of the match while Leslie Jones scored two of HPU's five goals. McMurry's
Bianca Van Osdol was busy with 23 saves as Howard Payne took an astounding 45 shots, 28 of which were on goal.
In the men's match, the Yellow Jackets' Shane Cazad scored in the 14th minute before Misael Carreno scored the final two goals of the match for HPU in the 34th and 73rd minutes respectively.
Matt Mouer recorded 11 saves in the loss for McMurry. HPU's men improved to 10-3-1 overall and 8-3-1 in league play while McMurry fell to 1-14-0 and 1-8-0 in conference play.
