McMurry breezes past the Lady Lobos, 100-46

Senior guard Dominique Brown finished with a game-high 14 points, seven assists and six steals in McMurry's 100-46 rout of Sul Ross State on Thursday.
ABILENE, Texas -- The McMurry women's basketball team reached the century mark for the second consecutive game as they blew past Sul Ross State, 100-46, Thursday night in an American Southwest Conference West Division game at Kimbrell Arena. 

McMurry has now won six straight games as they maintain their spot atop the ASC West standings.  McMurry improves to 12-3 overall and 9-2 in conference play.  They return to action on Saturday when they host defending national champion Howard Payne for a huge ASC West showdown at Kimbrell Arena.  Tip time is set for 3 p.m.

Much like they did in their previous game against Schreiner, the McMurry women's basketball team was clicking on all cylinders against Sul Ross State as McMurry never trailed in the game en route to the rout. 

McMurry took a 47-26 lead into halftime and expanded its lead throughout the second half.  In the second half, McMurry outscored the Lady Lobos 53-20.  For the game, McMurry shot 58 percent (38 of 66) from the floor.  McMurry's swarming defense also caused 46 Sul Ross State turnovers. 

Senior guard Dominique Brown led all scorers with her game-high 14 points.  Brown, who leads the ASC in assists, also dished out a game-high seven assists and collected a game-high six steals.  Sophomore center Anna Berthel finished with 13 points and a game-high five rebounds in just 16 minutes of playing time.  Senior guard Amber Horton scored 10 points (on 4 of 5 shooting) to finish out the double-digit scorers for McMurry.  All 15 of McMurry's players scored at least three points in the game.
