McMurry University Athletics

Athletic guard returns for her senior year and is expected to be one of the go-to players for McMurry.  Should see playing time at either guard spot. 

2007-08 Season:  Was an all-ASC West Division honorable mention selection as well as all-ASC defensive team honors.  Started all 30 games for McMurry and averaged 26.5 minutes per game, which was the second most on the team behind all-American Tarra Richardson’s 29.4 minutes average.  Horton averaged 6.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.  She also finished with 106 assists and 75 steals.  2006-07 Season: Named to the ASC West Division all-Defensive team as a sophomore. She averaged 6.3 points and 3.6 rebounds. Had 66 assists, 47 steals and shot 46 percent from the field for the season. Scored a season-high 14 points against TLU and was in double figures five games. She scored 12 points in three-straight games from Feb. 3 to Feb. 10. Was named academic all-conference. 2005-06 Season: Named to the all-ASC West Division Freshman team for her reputation around the conference as a great on-ball defender. Played in all 28 games, averaged 4.3 points per game and had 29 steals. Averaged 2.3 rebounds per game and was a 70 percent free-throw shooter. High School: Helped Mansfield Summit to a 33-6 season and an undefeated district record on the way to a district title in her senior season under head coach Samantha Morrow. Played with McMurry freshman Jabri Butler. Was named all-district honorable mention her junior season and made the second team her senior year, serving as the team’s captain. Personal: Relative, Sean Horton, played professional football for the LAPD. 2005 graduate of Mansfield Summitt High School in Mansfield. Born 04 April 1987.
