Nicholas Weddle joined the McMurry University staff on August 19, 2019 as an Athletics Compliance and Operations intern. He has since been hired as the Director of Compliance and Assistant Director of Athletics Operations, effective September 14, 2020.
While working as an intern at McMurry, Weddle was instrumental in countless internal projects related to NCAA compliance and athletics operations.
Weddle spent four years as a senior airman in the Air Force. While with the USAF, he interned with McMurry Athletics through the USAF Skillbridge program. In the Air Force, Nicholas worked on Radar systems for the B-1 Bomber and C130.
Weddle attended Frostburg State University from 2008-2012 where he received his Bachelor’s degree in exercise science. While at Frostburg, he was a member of the cross country team, as well as the indoor & outdoor track team.
After college, Weddle became a personal trainer for three years along with serving as a strength coach, assisting track and field athletes. In 2016, he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene. While at Dyess, Nicholas helped lead group exercise sessions both for his squadron and work center.
Additionally, Weddle was awarded 11 varsity letters in high school for cross country and track. His senior year, he placed second in the 3A state championships in the 4x800 meter relay. He also earned second team All-County in cross country and second team All-State his senior year.
Nicholas completed his Master of Science in Sports Administration from Liberty University, graduating in May 2020.
Weddle is from Pasadena, Maryland. His favorite sports teams are the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens. He loves to cook and enjoys the outdoors.
