McMurry University Director of Athletics Sam Ferguson announced the hiring of Mike Lambeck as the head coach of McMurry University Men's Soccer in February of 2019.
In his first season at the helm of the War Hawks, Lambeck posted a 6-10-1, 3-7-1 ASC record, earning his first career victory over Jarvis Christian. The season was highlighted by a 4-1 win over #25 Belhaven and included five All-ASC honorees, led by first teamer Miguel Esteban Jr.Â
Lambeck joined McM after three seasons as an assistant for the University of the Ozarks men's soccer program. During his time with the Eagles, Lambeck helped lead the team to three consecutive playoff appearances.
Primarily working with goalkeepers, Lambeck helped develop 20 All-Conference players in his three seasons at Ozarks. Goalkeepers earned those honors in 2016 and 2018.
Prior to his stint with Ozarks, Lambeck spent three years as the assistant men's soccer coach at his alma mater Wittenberg University, as well as one season as an assistant coach for the women's program at the University of Akron. While at Akron, he developed a goalkeeper to be selected to the All-MAC Freshman team.
In addition to coaching at the collegiate level, Lambeck has coached numerous soccer camps in Ohio. He has also served as the head coach and Director of Goalkeeping for Club Ohio Football Club, as well as the Director of Goalkeeping and Youth Academy Director for the Arkansas Valley Soccer Association.
Lambeck holds both a USSF National D license and USSF National Goalkeeping diploma. He is a certified strength and conditioning coach, as well.
As a player, Lambeck was a four-year starting goalkeeper at Wittenberg. He was a two-time All-Ohio team member and 2011 NCAC first-team goalkeeper. He led his team to an appearance in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. Professionally, he was the starting goalkeeper for Zanesville Athletic F.C. of the National Premier Soccer League in 2013.
Lambeck graduated from Wittenberg with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 2012, and earned his Masters of Sports Administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2019.
