Former McMurry standout runner Kim Fritz joined the cross country coaching staff during the 2017-18 athletic season, following a three-year career with the War Hawks.
As an assistant coach, Fritz has helped the War Hawks accomplish two women's cross country runner-up finishes in the American Southwest Conference. She has also assisted in placing seven women's selections and three men's selections for postseason all-conference awards.
In three seasons with Fritz on staff, McMurry has also excelled academically, placing seven ASC all-academic honor roll athletes in her first season. In 2018, McMurry Women's Cross Country was named to the NCAA D-III All-Academic team.
An accomplished athlete in her own right, Fritz ran at McMurry from 2014-16, earning second team All-ASCÂ honors in the program's first season back in the conference. Fritz anchored a McMurry team that placed second in the 2016 ASC Championships, the first of three straight team runner-up finishes.
Fritz also competed with the track and field program for one season in 2017, helping the team win the ASC Championship. She holds the outdoor track and field school records for the 10,000m and 5,000m runs at McMurry.
As a student, the Abilene native earned ASC Academic Honors all three seasons (2014-16) and garnered an NCCAAÂ Scholar Athlete Team award in 2014.
Fritz graduated from McMurry University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in art education and a minor in curriculum and instruction. She is also a graduate of Abilene Cooper High School, Class of 2010.
In addition to her role at McMurry, Fritz teaches full-time at Cooper High School, where she also assists her alma mater's track and field team as the distance coach.
Fritz is a lifelong native of Abilene, Texas.
