Corey Koch was named head cross country coach in 2023 after serving as an assistant since 2021. He also assists the track & field program during spring season.
Koch (pronounced “Cook”) served the United States Air Force for 15 years prior to his retirement from the military in 2021.
Between cross country and track and field, Koch has been a part of 10 American Southwest Conference championship teams and 10 ASC Coaching Staff of the Year winners. He helped the 2021 and 2022 women's teams win the program's second and third conference titles all-time, while also helping Jazmin Chacon win the ASC Individual Medal. He also helped guide the men's program to its first conference championship since 2000.
Before joining the Air Force, Koch lettered one season of cross country at Vincennes University in 2006. In high school from 2001-05, Koch was a two-time Indiana State Cross Country Qualifier and a three-time Indiana Regional Track Qualifier.
After one year of college at Vincennes, Koch began his military career. He went on to graduate from the College of the Air Force in 2018 with an associate’s degree in criminal justice. In 2019, he was named the 569th Security Forces Squadron Employee of the Year. Koch earned his bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Maryland in 2024.
Koch is originally from LaGrange, Indiana and now resides in Abilene with his wife Samantha and children Owen, Wyatt, and Steven.
He enjoys camping with his family and visiting family back in Indiana.
