Played for head coach Jody Guy at Roby High School in Roby. As a quarterback passed for 2,100 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 476 yards and four scores as a senior. That performance garnered him second-team all-district, second-team all-region, and second-team all-state honors. Also lettered in basketball where he was the district MVP averaging 21.4 points per game and was a first-team all-state selection.
