Will move from safety and defensive back to linebacker in his final year with the team in 2011.
2010 Season (Junior):
Recorded 14 tackles, one for a loss, forced one fumble and had one interception in his junior season in the secondary. Tied a career-high with five tackles against Mississippi College Nov. 13. Intercepted a pass against Sul Ross State in Alpine Oct. 9.
2009 Season (Sophomore):
Recorded 10 solo tackles and 10 assisted tackles in his sophomore campaign at defensive back. He was credited with 0.5 tackles for a loss on the season and had a career-high five tackles Oct. 10 against Howard Payne.
2008 Season (Freshman):
Recorded 13 tackles (seven solo) on the season with a season-high four tackles (all solo) against Texas Lutheran Oct. 25. Boyd also had his only interception of the season against TLU and returned it for 39 yards.
High School:

Played three seasons of safety for head coach Mike Malkalski at Houston’s C.E. King High School. As a senior he was named all-district honorable mention. Also lettered in track and basketball and won a district title in track. Pictured on the front page of the Houston Chronicle sports page.
Personal:
2007 graduate of C.E. King High School in Houston. Studying Biology at McMurry and plans to be a dentist. Uncle, Turk Boyd, played for the Houston Oilers in the NFL and played college basketball at the University of Wyoming. Cousin, Daniel Smith, played four years at the University of Idaho on the football program and signed as a free agent with the Carolina Panthers in the NFL. Played little league football with Cornelius Brown who plays cornerback at UTEP and will be a senior in 2009. Also played against Brown in High School. Born 29 Sept. 1988
