John Stark was added to the McMurry Football coaching staff prior to the 2020 season. Stark primarily oversees the administration of the program, assisting with football operations, equipment, recruiting and filming. He enters his fourth season in 2023.
Stark rejoined the world of athletics after 15 years in private business. Previously, Stark served on the baseball staff at Abilene Cooper High School (2000-2002) and was the Director of Baseball Instruction at the Extra Innings Academy in Liberty Hill, Texas, north of Austin.
In addition to these duties, Stark served former McMurry Baseball Head Coach Lee Driggers as the voice of Walt Driggers Field and helped with field maintenance during the 2002 and 2003 McMurry Baseball campaigns. He returned as the stadium's voice in 2022 and announces various high school and collegiate events hosted by McMurry.
Stark is from Abilene and has one child, Abigail, who lives in College Station.
