A former McMurry football player with decades of experience coaching and teaching throughout the state of Texas, John Hotchkin was added to the War Hawks coaching staff in Spring 2019 and works with the tight ends.

Hotchkin is an McM Football alum with over 30 years of teaching and coaching in Texas public schools. Schools that Hotchkin has taught and coached at include Sam Houston Junior High, Greenville High School, Lubbock Cooper High School, Dunbar High School, Bridgeport High School and Bangs High School.

Hotchkin served as the offensive coordinator while at Bangs, and coached the offensive line, linebackers and special teams in his 13 seasons at Bridgeport. In addition to coaching football, Hotchkin coached basketball and track & field throughout the years.

"Coach Hotchkin is a proud McMurry Football alum with deep ties in the McMurry community," said McMurry head coach Jordan Neal. "I could not be more excited to have his more than 30 years of experience as a coach and educator, and he will do an outstanding job working with the tight ends, as well as mentoring our players and coaches."
