McMurry University Football head coach Jordan Neal announced the addition of Gabe Garcia to his staff in March 2019, appointing him to the role of offensive coordinator and running backs coach. He enters his fourth season in 2022.

The offense has seen tremendous growth since his arrival, ranking in the top half of the American Southwest Conference in total offense the entire 2021 season. The offense averaged 364.1 yards per game — the most since 2015.

Since his arrival, Garcia's offense has placed 17 players over three years to the all-conference team. In the last two seasons, the offensive line has collected eight honors. In 2021, two running backs made the all-conference list in Kameron Session (1st Team) and Dee Robinson (3rd Team).

The offense has averaged slightly over 300 yards per game since Garcia's arrival, a vast improvement from the 286.4 yards per game amassed by McM in 2017.

Garcia joined McMurry after serving as an offensive assistant at Texas Lutheran University since 2010. Garcia then took on the role of Run Game Coordinator in 2018. The Bulldogs averaged 209.6 yards rushing per game scoring 35.5 points per contest under Garcia's watch.

Additionally, Garcia worked with the offensive line and tight ends on field goals and special teams, where the Bulldogs ranked first in the ASC in field goal percentage. Garcia served as the JV offensive coordinator for one year before taking over the head coaching role the last three seasons.

"Gabe Garcia is an outstanding young coach and recruiter who brings a tremendous amount of positive energy, expertise and winning experience to the McMurry Football program," Neal said upon his hire in 2019. "Not only will Coach Garcia be exceptional in his role as offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator, but he will also be an amazing example of servant-leadership for our players, the athletic department as a whole and McMurry University."
