Will start at strong safety in his final year with the team after a breakout season on defense in 2010 as a junior.
2010 Season (Junior):
Led McMurry’s No. 1-ranked ASC defense with 65 tackles including 32 solo efforts. Posted 8.5 tackles for a loss and half a sack. Forced one fumble, recovered one fumble, intercepted a pass and broke up five passes. Tallied a season-high 13 tackles against East Texas Baptist. Had a season-high 2.5 tackles for a loss against No. 5-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor. Forced a fumble against Louisiana College Nov. 6, and recorded his interception in a win over Texas Lutheran Oct. 16.
2009 Season (Sophomore):
Started out the 2009 season as a wide receiver but moved to strong safety at the midway point of the season. Caught seven passes for 45 yards and returned one kick for 17 yards. On the defensive side, he recorded eight tackles including one for a loss in the season finale against Louisiana College Nov. 14.
2008 Season (Freshman):
Recorded six tackles (five solo) last year and played wide receiver in his freshman season at McMurry.
High School:
Played two seasons for head coach Brian Lewis at Robinson High School in Robinson. As a junior, he helped his team to a 12-3 record where the team lost in the state championship game. Cleere was primarily a safety in high school but caught 335 yards worth of passes as a junior and had 250 receiving yards as a senior. In two years at strong safety, he combined for 213 tackles, four interceptions and he broke up 14 passes. Served as the team’s captain as a senior on his way to first team all-district honors. Was also named to the first team Super Centex Team. As a junior he was a second-team all-district selection at wide receiver and was an honorable mention selection at safety.

2008 graduate of Robinson High School in Robinson. Played alongside Randy Kitchens (DB, Rice University) and B.J. Lewis (WR, North Texas). Born 22 Jan. 1990.
