Selected as a 2011 honorable mention Preseason all-American by Consensus Draft Services after setting single-season school records in receiving yards and touchdown catches. Would need 17 touchdown catches in his senior season to tie Rory Peacock’s all-time school record of 40.
2010 Season (Junior):
Caught 60 passes for 1,131 yards and 15 touchdowns in his junior season with the latter two categories single season school records. He earned second-team all-conference in the ASC and ranked first among all league receivers with 15 touchdown catches, third in receiving yards, and tied for second in the ASC among all position players in touchdowns scored with 15. Long currently holds a current streak of 11-straight games with a touchdown catch, a school record. He went over the 100-yard mark six times in 2010 including three-straight games to begin conference play. Against Texas Lutheran Oct. 16, he caught a career-high 10 passes for a career-high 206 yards and grabbed two touchdown catches. His longest reception of the season came against East Texas Baptist when he scored on a 68-yard reception. His 18.9 yards per catch average ranked third in the ASC. He was selected as the ASC co-Offensive Player of the Week Oct. 17 after his Homecoming performance against Texas Lutheran.
2009 Season (Sophomore):
Caught 31 passes for 385 yards and tied for the team lead with eight touchdown receptions in his first season with McMurry. Had his best game of the season in a road win against Howard Payne Oct. 10 when he caught six passes for 134 yards and three touchdowns including a 71-yard score. Followed that performance with two touchdowns, five catches and 36 yards against Sul Ross State on Homecoming Oct. 17. Averaged 12.4 yards per catch and 40.1 all-purpose yards per game.
2008 Season - Abilene Christian University (Freshman):
Was a part of an ACU team that won the first games in the NCAA Division II playoffs and finished 12-1 overall.
2007 Season - Abilene Christian University (Redshirt):
Spent the 2007 season as a redshirt.
High school:
Played quarterback at Flour Bluff HS, and was a three-year letterwinner, Long’s teams were 22-4 over his last two seasons. As a senior he threw for more than 2,300 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for more than 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was the District 31-4A Offensive MVP and was an all-state selection his senior year. Set C.C. Flower Bluff's all-time passing yardage record.
