Biography

Will start at tight end for the War Hawks after an injury-shortened season in 2010.

2010 Season (Junior):

Caught 11 passes for 236 yards and one touchdown in five games as a junior. Suffered an injury against Mary Hardin-Baylor Sept. 18 and played sparingly in two games later in the season, but was never 100 percent. Caught two passes for 96 yards and a touchdown in the season opener against Bacone College and followed with a three-catch 90-yard performance against Texas College. Returned one punt for six yards.

2009 Season (Sophomore):

Thrived in the Air Raid Offense system in his second year with the team. Played wide receiver and tight end and earned honorable mention all-conference honors. Caught 44 passes for 526 yards and six touchdowns and averaged 52.6 yards per game and 12.0 yards per catch. Surpassed the 100-yard mark three different games. He caught nine passes for 105 yards and a touchdown Sept. 5 against nationally-ranked Trinity, caught seven passes for 102 yards and a touchdown against East Texas Baptist, and caught five passes for 119 yards including an 83-yard touchdown against Howard Payne.

2008 Season (Freshman):

Played in six games and caught six passes for 42 yards. Also recorded two tackles on defense and recovered a fumble. Caught a season high three passes for 0 yards against East Texas Baptist Oct. 4. His longest reception of the season came against Sul Ross State on the road Oct. 18 when he caught a pass for 15 yards.

High School:

Played wide receiver and tight end for head coach David Suggs at Nimitz High School in Houston. Diamond was a two-time all-district selection and served as the team’s captain his senior year. Also lettered in basketball where he was an all-district performer.

Personal:

2008 graduate of Nimitz High School in Houston. Majoring in Business Finance. His uncle, Karl Malone, was a 19-year veteran of the NBA playing with the Utah Jazz for 18 seasons and the Los Angeles Lakers for one. Malone was the NBA’s MVP for the 1998-1999 season and is the league’s second all-time leading scorer with 26,942 points. Diamond was born 14 June 1990.
