McMurry University Athletics

Entering into his final season of eligibility, Collins has tallied 77 tackles in three-plus years with McMurry.

2008 Season (Junior):

Played in just six games but was efficient recording 40 tackles (23 solo, 17 assisted). Had a season-high 15 tackles against Mary Hardin-Baylor Sept. 27 and recorded 11 tackles apiece in games against East Texas Baptist and Howard Payne giving him 37 tackles over a three-game span. Dropped opponents for three tackles for a loss. Forced a fumble in the ETBU game Oct. 4 and broke up a pass in the UMHB game.

2007 Season (Sophomore):

Moved to defensive end and recorded 21 tackles (10 solo) in his sophomore campaign and recorded three tackles for a loss. Had a season-high seven tackles against Louisiana College Sept. 15 and had perhaps his best game against Howard Payne Oct. 13 when he had five tackles, 1.5 TFL and a sack.

2006 Season (Freshman):

Recorded 12 tackles (five solo) and was in for 0.5 TFL. Had a season-high five tackles against Texas Lutheran Oct. 28.

2005 Season (Medical Redshirt):

Recorded four tackles before being injured and was awarded a medical redshirt.

High School:

Played three years for head coach Marty McClintock at Plainview High School. Recorded 115 tackles his senior season, had three interceptions and forced two fumbles. In three years on varsity, Collins helped Plainview to a 28-6 record. Named all-state as a senior, was a first-team all-district selection, served as the team’s captain and was named as a Green Belt Bowl All-Star participant. Also lettered in powerlifting and track.

Personal:

2004 graduate of Plainview High School in Plainview. Majors in business and marketing. Has aspirations to attend graduate school at the University of North Texas to gain a master’s in marketing information systems. Born 09 Sept. 1985.
