McMurry University Athletics

2008 Season (Freshman):

Led McMurry in rushing as a freshman with 69 carries for 443 yards, good for a 6.4 yards-per-carry average. Scored five touchdowns and broke the 100-yard mark in three different games. Carried for 108 yards on nine tries against Howard Payne Oct. 11 and scored two touchdowns including a 55-yard scored. He followed up with a 19-carry 106-yard performance against Sul Ross State Oct. 18 where he scored a touchdown. In the season finale against Louisiana College, he rushed for a season-high 128 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown Nov. 15. Caught two passes for 12 yards and had two tackles on the season. Tied with Evan Heard for the team lead in touchdowns (five).

High School:

Played for head coach Brian Lewis at Robinson High School along with McMurry teammate Austin Cleere. Rushed for 1,100 yards as a junior and scored 15 touchdowns. As a senior, he rushed for over 1,000 yards and scored 11 times. Named all-district as a senior and as a junior was named the district’s Newcomer of the Year. As a senior, he scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime to defeat Connally High School. Also lettered in track winning district titles in the 200-meter dash and the sprint relay.

Personal:

2008 graduate of Robinson High School in Robinson. Mother, Linda, ran track at Stephen F. Austin University. Cousins, Desmond and Chris Sanders, both played football at McMurry under head coach Joe Crousen and Donny Gray. Played alongside Randy Kitchen (QB, Rice University) and B.J. Lewis (WR, North Texas). Majoring in Business and Economics. Born 11 March 1990.
