ABILENE, Texas - McMurry Women's Soccer secured a 2-1 victory over Southwestern University in a neutral-site matchup at the HSU Soccer Complex on Thursday.
McMurry got on the board early when
Laila Brown scored unassisted at the 1:45 mark for her third goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.
Southwestern tied the game in the 78th minute with an unassisted goal.
Audrey Pool delivered the game-winner for the War Hawks, scoring her first goal of the season unassisted in the 83rd minute.
The Pirates out-shot McMurry 24-21, but the War Hawk goalkeepers combined for 10 saves to anchor the defense.
Avery Anders recorded three saves in a scoreless first half, while
Cadence Foulkrod picked up the win with seven saves in the second half.
Brown and
Genevieve Dorasami led the McMurry attack with six shots each, with Brown putting five on target and Dorasami three.
Hailey Andrle contributed five shots for the War Hawks.
The War Hawks return to the HSU Soccer Complex for their next match Saturday, September 19th, at 10:00 a.m. against Trinity University.
