CONWAY, AR - The McMurry War Hawks faced off against Hendrix College Friday evening at Warrior Softball Field, ending up on the short end of an 8-0 final.

McMurry threatened early in the top of the first inning when Angelina Kulbeth singled to right field. However, the War Hawks were unable to capitalize, as an aggressive baserunning sequence resulted in a double play. Hendrix scored the first runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning, taking an early 3-0 lead.

In the top of the second, Marissa Cardenas hit a single up the middle to give McMurry another baserunner. The War Hawk defense then held Hendrix scoreless in the bottom half of the inning.

McMurry put runners on base again in the third inning with a bunt single from Taylor McCurdy, followed immediately by another single from Kulbeth. The Bulldogs continued to extend their lead in the bottom of the third, capitalizing on
errors to score three more runs and make it 6-0.

The War Hawks looked to spark a rally in the top of the fourth inning. Sophia Steele hit a double to left center, and Rexie Sanders later followed with a single to left field. Despite getting runners into scoring position, McMurry could not bring them home. Hendrix responded in the bottom of the fourth with two more runs, pushing their lead to 8-0. Emmalee Gebhart entered the game in relief to close out the inning.

McMurry was unable to close the gap in the top of the 5th inning, going down in order to end the game.
