Early Offensive Surge Not Enough as McMurry Edged in Extra Innings

AUSTIN, TX - The McMurry War Hawks faced off against Concordia (Texas) on March 13, 2026, at Gardner-Boggs Field. Despite an explosive early start that gave the War Hawks a 6-0 lead, Concordia mounted a comeback and ultimately won 7-6 in 10 innings.

McMurry got on the board early in the top of the first inning. Tatum Black started things off with a single to left field and subsequently stole third base. Dru Ohmstede then reached first base on an error by the Concordia third baseman, which allowed Black to cross home plate and give the War Hawks a 1-0 lead.

The War Hawks extended their lead significantly in the second inning. Jeremiah Enriquez ignited the offense with a solo home run to left field. Shortly after, Kaden Buske hit a triple to left field. Beckham Paul followed up with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Buske. The momentum continued when Collin Bruning crushed a triple to right center, bringing home Tatum Black and pushing the McMurry lead to 4-0.

McMurry added two more runs in the top of the third. Kaden Buske delivered a clutch single through the left side, driving in both Kia'i Sylvester and Dru Ohmstede to make the score 6-0. However, Concordia responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring two runs of their own to narrow the deficit to 6-2.

Concordia continued to chip away at the lead, adding a run in the fourth inning on a solo home run. In the bottom of the sixth, Concordia rallied to score three runs, tying the game at 6-6. The game remained deadlocked through the regulation nine innings, forcing extra innings.

In the top of the 10th, McMurry was unable to capitalize and went scoreless. In the bottom half of the inning, Concordia loaded the bases before drawing a walk, forcing the winning run home, and concluding the game with a 7-6 final score.
