Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Casey Jones, McMurry Sports Information

War Hawks' Late Surge Falls Short in Hard-Fought Battle Against Colorado College

ABILENE, TX – The McMurry War Hawks men's basketball team showed incredible heart and determination at home, battling conference foe Colorado College to a thrilling 72-69 final score at Kimbrell Arena. Despite a fierce comeback attempt that erased a 15-point second-half deficit, the War Hawks ultimately fell just short, dropping their record to 8-12 overall and 3-8 in the SCAC.

Colorado College seized the momentum midway through the second half, using a massive 16-0 run to build its largest lead of the night. The Tigers maintained an advantage for much of the game, largely due to a strong interior presence that led to 38 points in the paint. However, McMurry refused to concede. The team came alive in the closing minutes, outscoring the Tigers down the stretch and pulling within a single possession in the final minute.

While the Tigers managed to hold on at the charity stripe, the biggest story for the War Hawks was their persistent perimeter shooting and second-chance efforts. McMurry connected on 10 three-pointers and hauled in 13 offensive rebounds, leading to 15 second-chance points that kept them in striking distance until the final buzzer.
