War Hawks Explode for 13 Runs to Clinch Series Against LeTourneau

ABILENE, TX - The McMurry War Hawks faced off against LeTourneau on February 21, 2026, at Edwards Field. The final score was 13-6 in favor of McMurry, securing a series victory two games to one and move their season record to 6-6-1 (2-4 SCAC).

After a scoreless first inning, McMurry got on the board in the bottom of the second inning, erupting for six runs. Elaina Herrera singled to left field to score Elizabeth Yaws for the first run of the game. Taylor McCurdy followed up with a double to left field, driving in Brooklyn Nehring and Herrera to extend the lead. Morgan Faubion continued the rally with a single to center field, scoring McCurdy and Nehring. Reaghan Staehely capped the inning with a double to center field, bringing home Faubion to make it 6-0.

LeTourneau responded in the top of the third inning with a single run, cutting the deficit to 6-1. McMurry answered immediately in the bottom of the frame. Taylor McCurdy singled to center field to score Alyssa Hernandez and Kami Owen, pushing the War Hawk lead to 8-1.

The YellowJackets added another run in the top of the fourth inning. The War Hawks again responded with force in the bottom half, scoring four runs to break the game open. Elaina Herrera drew a bases-loaded walk to score Reaghan Staehely. Alyssa Hernandez singled to bring in Marissa Cardenas. Taylor McCurdy and Kaelyn Rodriguez added RBI singles, extending the McMurry lead to 12-2.

LeTourneau attempted a rally in the top of the fifth, scoring four runs to narrow the gap to 12-6. McMurry added one final insurance run in the bottom of the fifth when Brooklyn Nehring walked with the bases loaded, scoring Sophia Steele to make the score 13-6. Neither team scored in the final two innings, and McMurry closed out the victory.
