War Hawks Improve to 10-2 in SCAC After Ten-Point Road Triumph

SHERMAN, TX – The McMurry War Hawks continued their impressive season by securing a hard-fought 59-49 victory over Austin College on Friday eveningThe win pushes McMurry to a 16-4 overall record and an 10-2 mark in SCAC play, keeping them firmly in the hunt for the top of the conference standings.

The contest was a defensive struggle early on, but the War Hawks found their rhythm by leaning on their defensive intensity and overwhelming rebounding advantageMcMurry dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Kangaroos 53-41, including 15 offensive boards that led to critical second-chance opportunitiesDespite shooting just 31.1% from the field as a team, the War Hawks utilized their superior depth and defensive pressure to force 19 turnovers and wear down the home squad.

Helana Chadwick was the engine of the McMurry offense, delivering a game-high 24 points in 39 minutes of actionChadwick was aggressive in attacking the rim, earning 10 trips to the free-throw line where she connected on nine attemptsShe also served as the primary playmaker, dishing out a game-high six assists and anchoring the perimeter defense with two steals.

Aryana Cleveland provided a massive boost in the paint, recording a double-double with 11 points and 11 reboundsHer physical presence was a deterrent all night, as she hauled in four offensive rebounds and recorded two steals to disrupt the Kangaroos' offensive setsCleveland's ability to secure extra possessions was vital in a game where points were hard-earned.
