McMurry Remains Unbeaten in Conference Play with Win Over Centenary

ABILENE, TX – Behind a high-powered offensive display and a suffocating defensive effort, McMurry defeated Centenary College, 85-34, on Friday evening at the Kimbrell Arena. The War Hawks established control from the opening tip and never looked back, leading for nearly 38 minutes of the contest and building a lead as large as 51 points in the final moments.

The War Hawks' defensive intensity was the story of the night, as they forced a staggering number of turnovers that translated into 45 points. McMurry's ability to turn defense into instant offense was on full display with 22 fast-break points, keeping Centenary out of rhythm throughout the game. The team also dominated the interior, outscoring their opponents 32-18 in the paint.

Helena Chadwick set the pace for the War Hawks, delivering a solid performance with a team-high 21 points. Chadwick was efficient across the board, shooting 9-of-14 from the floor and connecting on three shots from beyond the arc. In addition to her scoring, she was active on the glass with five rebounds and showcased her defensive anticipation with five steals.

Jordan Bravo provided a major spark from the perimeter, finishing with 14 points. Bravo's shooting touch was evident as she knocked down four three-pointers, accounting for nearly a third of the team's success from long range. She also played a significant role in the team's rebounding effort, hauling down six boards while adding an assist and a steal to her stat line.

Aryana Cleveland secured the effort inside, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Cleveland was a model of consistency, contributing five rebounds and matching the team's aggressive defensive identity with four steals. Her efficiency around the rim helped McMurry maintain a steady offensive flow during their largest scoring runs.

The McMurry bench also played a vital role in the victory, contributing 31 points to the final tally. Gracie Hunter provided a significant spark coming off the bench, contributing 11 points on an efficient 4-of-8 shooting performance.  As a unit, the War Hawks shot 44% from the floor and an impressive 75% from the free-throw line. The win moves McMurry to 9-3 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in conference play.
